WHAT'S NEW
Are you finding it hard to keep up with the seemingly endless supply of energy your toddler has? After awhile, you may find that you've run out of ideas to keep your toddler entertained. I've listed some fun activities that you can do with your toddler that will be educational and will also provide some fun quality time you can spend with your child. And did I mention that these activities don't have to cost a penny?

Warning: Some of these activities can get kind of messy so have some paper towels and garbage bags handy!

Go For Nature Walks - How much fun would it be for your toddler to go outside and see all kinds of animals, plants and bugs? Kids thrive on this stuff. They can collect rocks, bird feathers or pretty colored leaves to take home as 'treasures'. My daughter loves sticks and rocks. She can stay entertained for hours with them! These 'nature walks' can be in a local park, or even in your own neighborhood. A simple walk around the block can be entertaining for your child as you point out birds, trees, clouds or roaming cats and dogs. You'll even get some exercise as the same time.

Bake Goodies Together - If you don't mind cleaning up a messy kitchen once you're done, baking some treats can be a lot of fun with your toddler. Kids as young as 2 can help mommy put sprinkles on cookies or lick the cake mix from the spoon. From beginning to end, describe everything you're doing and get your child to help with anything you feel they can do. Your gingerbread men cookies might look more like shapless blobs by the time you're finished, but the important part is spending this fun time with your child.

Fun With Water - Fill a small tub with water and give your toddler several containers of different sizes. Sour cream, cottage cheese and yogurt containers work well for this. Let her pour water from one container to the other and you can even add some bubbles for extra fun.  This is a fun activity that also helps build hand eye coordination. You can also place different objects in a tub and show your child how some of them float and others sink. Your toddler can do this while in the tub, or you can both sit down together in the middle of the kitchen floor with towels handy because it's going to get a little wet!

Playing With Paper - Find a couple of old magazines or catalogues and let your toddler tear pages out. If your toddler is a little older you can teach her how to use toddler scissors to cut out shapes. Use a glue stick to stick her shapes onto a piece of paper and create a work of art she can hang on her bedroom wall or your fridge to show off to friends and relatives.

Create a Photo Album - Use photos of your toddler, your family and friends to create a fun photo album that your child will love to look at. This is especially good if your toddler has relatives that live far away. Talk about who each person is and where they come from or where they live. You can also 'decorate' this new photo album with some of the shapes you've cut out of magazines and make a little scrapbook.

Toddlers are constantly learning and developing.  This is the perfect age for you to have fun with your child while helping them learn at the same time. You don't have to spend a fortune to keep your toddler entertained and it doesn't have to involve high-tech gadgets like DVD players or game systems. Have fun with your child and you'll both remember this wonderful time for the rest of your lives.
