Find a Nanny that’s going to have good baby care skills and take wonderful care of your newborn or toddler. Be sure to always ask around and get referrals, and check the references or even a background check on your nanny. Some nanny placement agencies will do the background check for you, if you pay them a fee. Trust your instincts with a potential nanny, as you want to find a nanny that you feel comfortable with at all times. There are many different types of nannies including nannies that will work part time or ones that will actually live with you at your house or apartment, however, these nannies will charge more money.

You can find nannies that are official certified with an agency, have nursing or hospital experience which is always a plus, or they are just a self proclaimed nanny based upon their experience in the workplace. Don’t be alarmed if you find male nannies as well as female nannies. Your nanny that you ultimately select should be a great care taker of your baby. They should love to teach your baby new things such as sitting up right, rolling over, using their hands, eating, and feeding, and playing with balls and more. The nanny should love to do these things and love to be with your baby or babies. Most importantly, they have to protect your baby from harm such as hurting themselves, falling down from a swing, bouncer seat, couch, etc. The nanny should have their eyes on your baby when you need it most to make sure that your baby doesn’t get hurt.

A nanny can also run errands and help with the house chores, which is a great addition for any nanny. A great nanny who does errands such as dry cleaning or washing clothes, and also cooks dinner is a good plus to have. However, all of this is secondary to your nanny taking care of your baby directly. These skills are not required so don’t feel that it’s mandatory as all nannies are different. These items should be discussed before you hire the nanny if want the nanny to help with family chores.
