Tummy Time

Simply put: tummy time is an opportunity for your baby to lie on his belly and practice lifting up his head.

Tummy time is very important because it will help develop neck and other muscles for head control and rolling over.

Babies should practice tummy time from birth up. If your baby hates tummy time maybe you can try to have him lie on your chest so he can work on lifting up his head to look at you. Or you can get on the floor with the baby so he does not feel too lonely:)

Tummy time can be a lot of fun for babies especially once they turn 6 months and up. To make it more fun, you can also try to put a mirror in front of them: they love looking at themselves in the mirror!

The next step after tummy time is crawling!!!! Tummy time will your baby there cause he will start to puch on his little legs and start to move forward: good luck and have fun!!

Tummy Time is an important tool to prevent developmental delays and flat spots, but also a chance to bond with your baby. You can soothe your LO tummy down on your lap, instead of always propping baby upright on your shoulder. Carrying baby in a “football” hold, close to your body, tummy-down is another way to get baby used to the position and snuggle close at the same time.
Start Tummy Time in small spurts and gradually work up to an hour per day in several shorter increments. Every bit of Tummy Time makes a difference in baby’s development and helps baby towards achieving those important milestones.
